Portland City Budget Hearings
City of Portland Budget Listening Sessions: Portland City Council just completed a set of budget listening sessions to hear from people who have concerns or recommendations regarding potential budget cuts for Fiscal Year 2025-2026. Currently the city projects a $93 million shortfall. Ashcreek-Crestwood NA submitted comments at the April 1 meeting and online. Mayor Wilson will release a “balanced budget” on May 5 with more detail on how the city will balance its budget spending in the next fiscal year. It’s not too late to submit comments at https://www.portland.gov/budget/join. The final public hearing is scheduled for May 7, TBD.

Bonds to Improve Health, Safety, and Learning; Modernize, Repair Schools
Question: Shall Portland Public Schools repair, modernize schools; increase health, safety; by issuing bonds estimated to maintain current tax rate? If the bonds are approved, they will be payable from taxes on property or property ownership that are not subject to the limits of sections 11 and 11b, Article XI of the Oregon Constitution.
Summary: Measure authorizes up to $1.83 billion in principal amount of general obligation bonds for facilities and education investments.
